Head Start Open EnrollmentWilliamsburg James City County Community Action Agency‘s Head Start Program is a Preschool Program for Children ages 3 to 5 serving income eligible families, including children with special needs.  To apply, call 757-229-6417, or visit us at 312 Waller Mill Road, Williamsburg, VA in Suite 400.


Free Tax Preparation – Williamsburg-James City County Community Action Agency is offering free tax preparation services to low-and moderate-income workers.  You can save money this year by getting your tax return prepared at our VITA site and you could receive your refund in approximately 7 to 10 business days with direct deposit.  Families and individuals with an income less than $60,000 may be eligible to claim the earned income tax credit, which can reduce the amount of income taxes owed.  Please provide Photo ID, Social Security card for everyone listed on tax return, all W2s and 1099 forms, and bank routing and account number for direct deposit.  If you need additional information, or would like to schedule an appointment, please call John Smith at (757)229-3316 or (757)229-9332.


Local Weatherization Program Available – Homeowners and renters may qualify for FREE WEATHERIZATION services! Services are free to Home Owner’s and Renter’s that qualify based on total household income. Federally funded program is administered by Williamsburg-James City County Community Action Agency and serves: Williamsburg, James City County, York County, Newport News, Poquoson, Hampton, Suffolk, Franklin, Isle of Wight and Southhampton. Representative will be available on various dates and multiple locations on the Peninsula to assist in the application process. which involves a completed application with proof of ownership and income, and a copy of a recent utility bill. Put Your Old Cell Phones to Good Use! – Verizon  is helping to end domestic violence by collecting no-longer-used wireless phones and accessories and turning them into support for domestic violence organizations nationwide. Through HopeLine, they have donated hundreds of thousands of phones and awarded millions of dollars in cash grants to their partner agencies. Phones should be cleared of any personal data, including contacts, messages, etc.  As part of the refurbishing process, phones donated to HopeLine are scrubbed prior to distributing them for reuse to ensure all customer data is removed. Donated phones are not tax deductible. Phones can be dropped off at any Verizon store or mailed using a postage paid label from Verizon. To learn more, click here.
