#AlwaysServing Historic Triangle Community Services Center is helping the Williamsburg Farmers Market support local farmers and the community during these unprecedented times. Each Friday, they become a hub for sorting, packing, and delivering fresh fruits, vegetables, and other treats to the community through a no contact drive thru distribution in the Center’s parking lot.
#AlwaysServing Virginia Peninsula Foodbank is holding drive-through food distributions throughout our service area to help those impacted by the COVID-19 threat. They are also providing weekly over 1,300 bags of food for kids and “Grab and Go” dinner meals delivered to our Kids Cafe sites. #AlwaysServing Girl Scout Council of Colonial Coast continues to provide virtual programs created for growing leaders. #AlwaysServing Peninsula Pastoral Counseling Center is still open and accepting new clients. Faced with unemployment, relationship difficulties, anxiety, grief and loss, many people are struggling with their emotional and mental well being. Services include professional counseling that integrates mind, body, spirit, and community, with support available for those who are uninsured or under insured.


#AlwaysServing Avalon Center is available to assist fleeing survivors and those in need of counseling and resource referrals. The process of assistance begins through our 24-hour helpline: (757) 258-5051.


#AlwaysServing Hospice House & Support Care of Williamsburg continues to provide end of life care, loan medical equipment to those in need, and offer online bereavement services via blogs & meetings https://mailchi.mp/7a65a64d9bef/virtualsupportgroup


#AlwaysServing Grove Christian Outreach Center has changed their delivery model to not only reach more families, but to also provide adequate nutritious food to families facing new challenges. They are open for food box pick ups on Tuesday from 1-6pm and Friday from 9am-1pm. No appointment needed.


#AlwaysServing The DeGood Foundation is still mailing free books to children through Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library. Schools and libraries are closed, but they’re still getting books and education into the hearts and minds of the Peninsula’s children.


#AlwaysServing Gloucester Mathews Care Clinic continues to provide care & medications to patients, both curbside & via telemedicine. The goal is to avoid unnecessary ER visits & alleviate burden on hospitals during this COVID-19 crisis.

#AlwaysServing Downtown Hampton Child Development Center is still open, providing education and care for children 6 weeks to 5 years old. We are following social distancing guidelines, have lowered our classroom ratios, and more than doubled our cleaning efforts.

Fear 2 Freedom is still working to serve survivors of sexual and domestic violence. The pandemic has been linked to an increase in domestic violence situations, so it is more important and ever that F2F provides AfterCare and iCare Kits, as well as resources and support, to survivors. https://www.fear2freedom.org/covid19-resources

#AlwaysServing Boys & Girls Clubs of the Virginia Peninsula are providing grab-and-go dinners to area youth. They are also providing virtual programming that focuses on their five core program areas (Education, Leadership & Service, Health & Wellness, The Arts, and Sports & Recreation).
UPDATE – May 20, 2020 – Weekly Wellness Checks are made via calls to family members. Grab-and-go dinners continue and have increased to almost 800 meals each day; and now includes breakfast and dinner. Virtual programming continues each Monday – Friday. #AlwaysServing THRIVE Peninsula is providing emergency assistance to individuals and families who have lost income due to covid-19 and/or are otherwise struggling. #AlwaysServing Bacon Street Youth and Family Services has substance use and mental health counselors available via telehealth, and they are accepting new clients. #AlwaysServing The Arc of Greater Williamsburg‘s day program, Arc of Abilities, has been working from home putting together gaskets for Eaton Corporation. They have also made their vans & drivers available for food distribution. They are staying in close contact with their families via phone calls and zoom meetings.


#AlwaysServing Smart Beginnings VA Peninsula continues to assist child care providers professionally by shifting all training classes to an online platform; emotionally by checking in weekly to assess centers’ needs and concerns; and, economically by giving guidance on the current business climate and reallocating funds to buy cleaning kits for centers serving essential personnel. Please visit SBVP’s website or Facebook page for more information about how they make a difference in our community.


#AlwaysServing  YVC Hampton Roads has been hosting virtual service-learning sessions w/ add-on projects for youth to produce read-aloud videos for children, advocate for hunger relief, and create items to donate to the Peninsula SPCA, senior living facilities, and hospitals!
