Community of Faith Mission is the Greater Williamsburg area’s only emergency winter shelter program serving homeless men, women, and families. A collaboration of more than 20 faith partners and a dozen community partners, COFM serves as a bridge between living unsheltered and finding permanent housing.
Grove Christian Outreach Center maintains an Outreach Center in the Grove area of James City County in order to minister to they physical and spiritual needs of the poor and disadvantaged in the community. They provide food, clothing, financial assistance, school supplies, holiday food baskets, Christmas baskets, shoebox gifts for kids, and a blessing room for families.
The Grove Community Garden exists in a food desert to provide opportunities for those in the community to grow their choice of nutritious vegetables, to educate the adults and children in the community about gardening and health and for the purpose of community building.
Studio South Foundation hires, trains, and pays certified yoga instructors to bring Yoga (inclusive of meditation and mindfulness) to the community and provide classes for underserved populations at substantially reduced or no cost.
The mission of Bacon Street Youth & Family Services is to create healthier families and more resilient youth through evidence-based behavioral health & substance use services for adolescents, young adults, and their families. We have four offices—Williamsburg, Yorktown, Hampton, and Gloucester—and offer services tailored to the communities we serve. All of our services are offered regardless of our clients’ ability to pay.
Williamsburg Faith in Action provides assistance with everyday tasks of life to seniors 60 and older living in Williamsburg, James City County, and the Bruton District of York County. Services are free of charge and include, but are not limited to: transportation, visiting, well-check calls, grocery shopping, assistance with chores, and yard work.
Lackey Free Clinic provides medical, dental and mental health care, as well as prescriptions to uninsured individuals living at or below 200% of the federal poverty level, and living in Williamsburg, James City and York Counties, Poquoson and Newport News.
