DST Sorority – Students in select areas of Newport News and York County have the opportunity to apply for scholarships from the Denbigh Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority (DST). The sorority is offering four scholarships to students to support their college educations. Available scholarships include: Vikki Irvette Richardson Memorial Scholarship ($1,000 per year for four academic years); Yvonne Veneble Memorial Scholarship (non-renewable, one-time award of $2,000); Community Impact Award (non-renewable, one-time award of $2,000); Two (2) Fortitude Scholarships (non-renewable, one-time awards of $1,500 each). All applicants must: Be a Black or African American graduating senior; Attend one of the following high schools: Denbigh, Menchville, Woodside, Grafton, Tabb, or York; Show evidence of acceptance to an accredited college, university, or vocational program for the ensuing year; Meet GPA requirements; Submit an official transcript; Be actively involved in community service; Be available to receive the award at DST’s Annual High Tea Event on Sunday, April 30. Applications are due on March 15. The Junior League of Hampton Roads’ Volunteer Scholarship was established in 2018 to support the volunteer potential of our youth by awarding one or more scholarships ranging from $500-$3000+ to young women high school seniors demonstrating outstanding volunteer performance in the community. Candidates for the Volunteer Scholarship must meet the following requirements: Must be a graduating, female senior, who has earned a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.0 and from Hampton, Newport News, York County, Poquoson, Williamsburg, Smithfield, Isle of Wight, or Gloucester (private or public) schools. Must enroll as a full-time student in any private or public post-secondary institution in the coming school year. Must be involved in a volunteer capacity in the community.  Volunteer work must be separate from any that is required by student’s school. Deadline to apply is April 14, 2023. Connor Gweedo Memorial Foundation – Two scholarships available: (1) Gweedo Memorial Scholarship – An annual Gweedo Memorial Scholarship will be given out to a graduating senior each year in memory of Conner Guido; and (2) Gweedo Giving Scholarship – An annual $1000 Gweedo’s Giving Scholarship will be given out to a graduating senior each year in memory of Conner Guido. Proclaiming Grace Outreach – offers $1,500 scholarships to New Kent and Warhill High School Seniors who are pursuing traditional college paths as well as those pursuing a vocational path. The Jenna Grace King Memorial Scholarship application can be found in your guidance office. Deadline each year in May.

Peninsula Community Foundation – various scholarships with deadlines now through May.
